Synthesis
1. Describe how new technologies have led to the convergence of traditional and new media.
Media convergence has drastically changed our lives in many ways. Trough media, we can incorporate now all the information that we can get from traditional media which can help us spread information faster and more efficient. Since traditions have been in history for a long time, people have then chosen to evolve where it's already written and congregated it with the new media.
2. Explain how media convergence creates new opportunities for interaction.
Media convergence is the evolution of technology, where technological products are combined with one another to perform similar tasks. It creates new platforms which people can use as a new way to interact with other people. For example, traditionally, old generations usually write letters for their loved ones and send it through snail mail but now, millennials and even the older people use Facebook Messenger to send their messages, especially if the receiver is from afar.
3. Describe the use of one or two forms of new media to share knowledge and information on a current issue in society.
With the use of one or two forms of new media, information can be disseminated easily and very quickly. Nowadays, messages and information can be spread in just a blink of an eye. We just need to verify if the message that we have received is accurate or not. After all, it all depends on the way we decode it.
4. Explain how a person could be portrayed in public in the age of media convergence.

In the age of media convergence, media personalities have great impact with the way how their viewers act in real life. They greatly influence their viewers with their physical look, actions, and behaviors. For instance, YouTube vloggers can be considered as the most influential people on the internet. Through their videos, they share their everyday activities and how they interact with other people and with these, their viewers may or may not imitate their actions because they are the ones whom they look up to.

Information Literacy (Laboratory)

Knowledge is Power

Knowledge is more powerful than any physical strength. No great work can be done without knowledge. Being educated does not only mean that one knows many things but does not do anything with it, rather, it pertains to people who has enough knowledge, and uses it properly through sharing and passing it to other people who lacks in information.  A person who has enough knowledge has the power to share and raise awareness to other people. We all know that there are people who are less fortunate when it comes to education. These are the people who are in need of most help from those who are lucky enough to gain information from different media. Also, a knowledgeable person who uses his power to share, can help raise the awareness of those people who don’t have an access to the internet regarding the current news, especially if it is all about natural disasters. For instance, I can consider myself a knowledgeable person and I can use my power to share my idea regarding the important things to remember before, during, and after an earthquake by making online posters and post it online or print it and post it on different areas in my community. By the help of this, I will not only help them raise their awareness but I can also help them be prepared in times of disaster.

State the importance of giving credit to the source of one’s work.

Elaborate your answer.

An important part of being a responsible, trustworthy and exceptional student is citing your sources.  One who doesn’t know how to give credit can be considered as a plagiarist. Giving credit is very important because by doing this, we are acknowledging the effort and the intelligence of the author. Also, giving credit shows and pays respect to one’s intellectual property. Another importance of it is that when we cite or mention the author’s name in our text, we are helping them to increase their exposure to the readers, especially if they are not that well-known yet..

Other information you may need
Traveling to Baguio City is not expensive. There are wide range of lodgings to choose which can suit everyone’s budget. Food is also no problem since restaurants and eateries abound. Getting around is cheap, you can either ride a jeepney or take a cab, which is also surprisingly affordable, or better yet, walk. The city is both good for both budget backpackers and luxury travelers, but as always, this budget guide is intended for the absolute minimum one can spend for a day

Information Literate Individual

A person who is considered as information literate has the ability to locate, evaluate, think critically and use the information that he/she has gathered wisely and effectively. In our generation today, being considered as such does not give advantage to ourselves only, rather, we also acquire the power to share and spread accurate information to other people, especially those in need. A literate individual must be responsible enough in sharing information to other people. They must provide precise and reliable sources. One must cite evidence to support their interpretation of the text, both verbally and in writing. They should communicate their reasoning effectively and know how to evaluate the reasoning and arguments of others.

STAGES/ELEMENTS
YOUR ANSWER
Information Needs
What information do you need?
If the intensity of the typhoon is high, I need to know what are things needed to prepare that will be placed inside our emergency kit. I also need to know the emergency hotlines in case of emergency.
Source of Information
Where will you get them?
Since I am the one witnessing the situation, I, myself, can already be the source of information.
Access to the Information
How will you access them?
One of the best devices that can be used during this kind of situation is the radio. In case of a very intense typhoon, internet may be affected, which means that we cannot use our mobile phones to search for information and news online.
Evaluate Information
How will you check the quality of information?
If there is still an access to the internet, I can confirm that the information that I gathered is accurate by checking its main source, if it’s a reliable website or not. We can also check if the website is an official website or just a parody.
Organize Information
How will you organize and store them?
If I have an access to the internet, I can take a picture or screenshot of the text so that I will have my own copy of it in case the internet signal will be lost.
Communicate Information
How will you create and communicate them?
I think the best way to communicate or spread information in this kind of situation is through a phone call. In this way, we don’t need to be worried about the internet connection of the person we are talking to because a phone call doesn’t require one, it just needs a phone signal.
