QUESTIONS
YOUR ANSWERS

Predict how this event will be covered by television, radio, print and Internet?

With the use of the television, reporters will show the live happenings regarding the protest and give a live update from time to time. Through the use of radio, reporters will interview some of the participating rallyist. However, through the print media, publishers will produce newspapers and spread it across the country containing different photographs of the said event. Lastly, through the internet, netizens who have witnessed the event will post their knowledge and ideas about the background of the event – the reason why it happened and what pushed the rallyists to do a protest. Also, news on the internet is very helpful especially to those who have missed the event.

How are the
presentation of facts may vary from medium to medium?

Information from medium to medium will vary depending on how fast the news spread. For instance, the speed of information with the use of television and radio is the fastest and most accurate. It is somehow the same because it is both based on signals in order to deliver the messages. On the other hand, print media and the internet news spread slowly because publishing and posting takes time unlike the other medium.

How are the codes and conventions vary from medium to medium?

Codes and conventions from different medium vary on the way how these things use signs and symbols to convey their messages. Televisions and radios deliver their messages in a technical way, while print media and internet delivers in a symbolical way.

How much of these differences will be based on the unique characteristics of the medium?
These medium have different characteristics which made them unique and these characteristics have a great impact in the way how people convey and decode the news about the said event.

If I will be given a chance to be a reporter, I will use the conventional way in broadcasting the given scenario because in broadcasting, it is very important to know the accepted ways of constructing form and informing meaning in media products -- including story principles, form and structure, generic structures, character and story arcs, cause and effect, point of view, the structuring of time, elements of page layout, paper stock for print, titles and credits sequences, hyperlinking and mounting and framing of images -- to build a good relationship with the audience.

What will you do to not make your report boring? Elaborate your answer.

The experience of sitting through a truly terrible presentation is nearly universal. The dozens of identically-themed PowerPoint slides stacked with text, the useless handouts, the tense, miserable minutes of silence during the time allotted for Q&A--presentations rarely energize a team or allow the speaker to fully display the depth of their knowledge

Reporting is significant to so many different parts of the business. One cannot simply put it on the back burner just because it is not the most exciting task. Instead, why not we try making reporting as easy as possible, and something we actually look forward to!

Here are some ways on how I can make my reporting interactional and exciting:

  1. I will focus on facts and data all designed to impress their audience and show how hard they have worked.
  2. I will know my audience very well -- their likes and interests -- and focus on them on my whole talk.
  3. I will use lots of images, videos, sounds and many more that will grab their attention.
  4. I will make fun and interactional games that will be played along with my talk to make sure that my audience are participating.
  5. As much as possible, I will avoid reading texts from the powerpoint to avoid my audience from being bored.
Would you exaggerate some elements in your report to make it interesting? Why?

No, I will not exaggerate some elements in my report just to make it interesting. Exaggerating a report decreases the authenticity and accuracy of an information. As a reporter, I will not sacrifice the truthfulness of my report in exchange of it being interesting to the viewers. In spreading information, what matters the most is that the message being sent by an individual is accurate, has a reliable basis or source, and should be fair and free from any biases. If my report contains all these characteristics, I am 100% sure that it would still be an interesting one.
